AUSTRIA IS IN THE BOOKS: NOW FULL FOCUS ON LAST ROUND

Today should have been the day of resurgence for Matteo Ferrari, but unfortunately it started the wrong way. The Italian rider found himself on the ground due to a coming together with an opponent even before the completion of the first lap. He tried again this afternoon in race two as he made his way back to sixth from tenth on the grid, while getting very close to the leading group and setting the third quickest lap-time of the race.

Alessio Finello showed good pace in both races: unfortunately, luck was not on his side. The Turin-born rider had to serve a long lap penalty in race one, which cost him ground and positions. He still managed to make it back to twelfth courtesy of a consistently quick pace. He did not have a better time in race two as he had to run wide to avoid an opponent and crossed the line last as the MotoE field entered lap two. Still, he managed to make up some ground for a thirteenth place at the chequered flag.

Now Misano, the final round of the season, awaits, with both riders fully focused on wrapping up the year on a high.

MATTEO FERRARI #11 (DNF RACE1 – 6th RACE 2)

“It was a bittersweet Saturday: too bad for race one, because we had a good start, but a coming together prevented us from finishing the encounter. I’m still happy with the start and the feeling with the bike. We didn’t change anything for race two: the team did a great job in fixing the bike, which wasn’t a given. I think I made a good start and a good race; we got immediately close to the front guys but a few exchanges in positions with Tulovic prevented us from fully bridging the gap with the leaders – although our pace was the same as theirs. We improved in each session: sixth is still not enough, but we’re competitive again.”

ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (12th RACE1 – 13th RACE 2)

“I knew I had to serve a long-lap penalty in race one today, which unfortunately I couldn’t try before the race, and it was a bit complicated to perform. I had a good start in race one and I was in the group, but Matteo’s crash made me lose some positions as I had to avoid him. The pace was good, I served the penalty and despite that I still finished twelfth. I was therefore positive ahead of race two as I had no more penalties to serve: I started well but once again I had to avoid another rider who crashed in front of me and found myself last. I tried to make up as much ground as I could, but the pace was strong. I’m happy with my performance but disappointed with the result, which doesn’t reflect our growth: I can be much closer to the front but luck wasn’t on our side this weekend.”
