CHALLENGING FRIDAY AT MOTEGI
We are back in action for the third consecutive weekend: the sixteenth round of the season got underway at Motegi, in Japan, where changeable weather conditions have had an impact straight away during the opening day. After positive free practice, Albert Arenas struggled to get up to speed in the Practice1 session: he managed to save the day with a 1’50.321secs which currently allows him to be in the top 14 and give him the provisional Q2 seed, which is important given the rainy forecast for the entirety of Saturday.
It was a challenging day also for Manuel Gonzalez, who was sixteenth quickest at the end of the day. The Spanish rider will need to play his cards in tomorrow’s Practice2 if he wants to secure a direct seed to Q2, before giving his all in qualifying. A start on the front two rows will be key in order to battle for a good result on Sunday.
14th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’50.321)
“It was a challenging day: we started well in the opening session, but then I was on the limit. We need to work on it to improve as much as possible: we have all the information we need to make a step forward. Looks like it’ll be raining tomorrow, but it’ll be dry on Sunday, so we’ll have to work in order to be ready and competitive in every condition.”
16th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’50.504)
“This Friday hasn’t been among the best ones of the year so far. We struggled to get up to speed in both sessions, despite some modifications. We need to work and do the best to improve the set-up for tomorrow, because we’re a little behind. We’ll push to the limit in Practice2!”
