ARENAS AND GONZALEZ ON ROW TWO AT LE MANS

Team QJMOTOR GRESINI Moto2 enjoyed a positive Saturday at Le Mans, with both standard bearers able to earn the direct seed to Q2 before battling for the top positions. Albert Arenas was able to get up to speed after a difficult Friday and brought out the best version of himself in qualifying: he set the fastest split times on many occasions and almost put together the perfect lap in 1’35.377, securing fourth place with a mere 0.3secs gap from pole.

The sixth spot of the grid will be occupied by his teammate Manuel Gonzalez, who topped the timesheets in this morning’s Practice2 and set the all time lap record of the track in 1’34.868. His pace is strong and consistent, meaning the rider #18 will aim higher and will do his best to finish on the podium.

4th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’35.377)

“It was a day of constant improvement. We managed to turn the weekend around after a bit of a challenging start. I stayed focused and tried to ride at my best and got up to a good speed. We will try to understand how to be as fast in tomorrow’s race: a good start will be key.”

6th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’35.453)

“I’m not happy with the result of today’s qualifying. After a very strong performance in Practice 2, in which we improved both the setting and my riding style, in qualifying I didn’t feel comfortable enough for pushing in the afternoon. The higher temperatures surely accentuated my issues with the front-end and also corner exit was difficult. We need to look forward to tomorrow, though, as our focus in on the race: we’ve been strong throughout the weekend so far and we want to score another podium finish.”
