ENCOURAGING QUALIFYING PERFORMANCE FOR TEAM FEDERAL OIL AT LOSAIL
#QatarGP Qualifying. It was a good Saturday for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 with a third-row result claimed by Fabio Di Giannantonio while Nicolò Bulega narrowly missed a top ten finish at Losail.
Different paths for the two Italian riders so far: Bulega, who did so well in free practice, then struggled in Q2 and eventually finished 11th. Di Giannantonio, who was forced to go through Q1 after the 16th place in free practice, managed on the other hand to get up to speed aboard his Kalex and log a 1’59.241secs time that granted him the eighth place on the grid.
With a good pace up their sleeves, both Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 riders are ready for the first GP of the season, scheduled from 18:20 local time (GMT +3).
8th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 (1’59.241)
“I’m very happy with the work done today especially after the mixed feelings of yesterday. We did a huge step today and also the right move: it was very important to ride with one setup only i and order to get the right feeling with the bike. Manuel (Poggiali) helped me a lot. In the end I did well this morning in the hear and also in both Q1 and Q2. The optimistic goal was to be in the first two rows, the realistic one to be in the top ten: we’re eighth so I’d say we achieved it. We need to stay focused and do a good job because I want to get a good start tomorrow.”
11th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’59.454)
“I don’t feel bad on the bike, but unfortunately we weren’t able to apply the strategy we had planned. In any chase we’re working well and with good synergy, so I think we can have fun tomorrow as well as a good race.”
