DREAMS SHATTERED FOR FERRARI
Matteo Ferrari had a positive start to his and the team’s home round as he was second-quickest in the combined times of Free Practice. He then claimed pole position before after being seeded directly to Q2, as his World Championship title dreams began to take a clearer shape. Then the penalty: Matteo will have to start the two races tomorrow from tenth on the grid; still, everything is possible as there are 50 points to be awarded and Ferrari is only 22 points away from the top.
It was a difficult day for Alessio Finello, who did not manage to set a competitive lap-time in Free Practice and therefore he had to go through Q1, where he recorded a 1’42.963. He will start tomorrow’s races from 16th place on the grid, ready for comeback.
10th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’42.785)
“To be on pole at my home race was a dream come true, but it shattered very quickly. There are still two races tomorrow and 50 points up for grabs: we’re tenth and we’ll put up a fight until the last lap.”
16th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1’42.963)
“It was a difficult day: I didn’t manage to get up to speed the way I wanted. We still tried a lot of things, and we know what to do tomorrow. The two races will be difficult but we’ll try to make up as much ground as possible, we deserve it and we need to finish the season on a high. We’ll give our all!”
