FERRARI WINS AND TAKES LEAD, ZACCONE SCORES A SUPER TOP 5 RESULT
He was once again on the podium, but unlike yesterday he climbed all the way up – where he got accustomed to being in MotoE at the Misano World Circuit. Matteo Ferrari is back dominating the scene: this was a must win for the Italian, who needed all 25 points to keep his title hopes alive. The #11 of Team Trentino Gresini MotoE, also due to Aegerter being taken out by Marcon, is surprisingly back on top of the standings. He will get to Le Mans with a +4 on Aegerter, a +7 on Torres and a +15 on Casadei.
A Sunday to remember and celebrate for the team led by Fausto Gresini, who places also Alessandro Zaccone in the top five. The series rookie took advantage of the opportunity after starting from tenth place on the grid; after recovering some positions, he led the second group of riders up to the chequered flag. The rider #61, together with Ferrari, gives Team Trentino Gresini MotoE the best combined team result so far.
Time for two weekends of ‘relax’ before the season finale taking place at Le Mans (10-11 October).
1st – MATTEO FERRARI #11
“It was hard, especially at the beginning because Domi had a great start. After the MotoGP warm-up I knew the track had more grip and I was feeling comfortable. After Aegerter’s crash I kept my pace and it all went well! I must thank my team, because we watched back race one and in particular the last lap, and today I was ready to close all doors if it would have been necessary.”
5th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61
“I finally had fun. We’re good with the set-up now and the only regret was the grid position. It took me a while to overtake Medina, who is a ‘late braker’ and in that department we’re still not as comfortable. When Granado and Di Meglio got past – even though are two of the protagonists of this category – I thought no, this is my time today.”
