GONZALEZ FOURTH AT THE LINE IN MISANO

Team QJMOTOR GRESINI Moto2 has wrapped up a solid weekend at Misano, with Arenas and Gonzalez starting the race from sixth and ninth on the grid, respectively, as the immediately moved up to fifth and sixth at the second corner, ready to battle for the podium. The #18 stayed in close contact with the leading group until the end as he crossed the line fourth and bagged 13 valuable points for the championship race. He is currently seventh in the standings, 60 points in arrears of the lead.

Albert Arenas confirmed the good steps forward made at Aragón: after a consistent weekend on Italian turf, the rider #75 did his best to defend fifth place, but the drop in feeling with the front-end prevented him from pushing hard until the end. He still managed to bring the bike home in ninth place, at the team’s home track, where in two weeks’ time he’ll have another chance to aim even higher.

4th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18

“It was a very positive race: we did a good comeback with a great start, then I made some passes and I was feeling very good. The grip dropped in the last six laps as I had some near crashes so I decided to take it easier and bring the bike safely to the finish line. Fourth place is still a very good result that gave us valuable points for the championship race. Generally speaking it was a good weekend, now we’ll look for some more for the next one.”

9th – ALBERT ARENAS #75

“We needed a solid race like the one we had today, even though it’s still not where we want to be. We made another small step forward: I had some issues with the front-end, which I had to manage for the whole race: we will study the date in order to improve in this area and come back even stronger at the second Misano weekend.”
