MATTEO FERRARI THIRD OVERALL IN THE 2023 MOTOE SEASON
Another MotoE season has drawn to a close, one that was marked by the arrival of Ducati as the new single manufacturer. There were many sacrifices and last-turn battles. Matteo Ferrari was in the battle for the ultimate prize until the final race against the rivals Casadei and Torres, who he was trailing by 22 and 1 points. Then, two difficult races happened: the Rimini-born rider was demoted from pole to tenth place on the grid due to a penalty and that made the battle for the title a lot harder. He eventually finished the season in third place, only one point away from the runner up spot, disappointed but ready to bounce back in the future.
Alessio Finello had more of a difficult path as he finished twelfth and fifteenth today and bagged 5 points that granted him sixteenth place in the final standings.
Thanks to the results of their two standard bearers, Team MotoE FELO GRESINI RACING finished third in the all-electric team standings.
MATTEO FERRARI #11 (RACE1: 6th; RACE2: 7th)
“I am a bit disappointed with how the championship ended as we couldn’t finish on the podium in neither race at home even though we deserved it given how Friday went. Unfortunately we finish third after battling for the title all year long. Surely there’s disappointment but we hold our heads high; we did our best and we have to start back from this. I’d like to thank the whole team and every single person that is part of this squad as I’ve always felt at home and gave their very best always. We made some mistakes together and lost the title eventually, but also won a lot and secure some great results that allowed is to get a spot in the top three for the fifth consecutive year, which is not a result that can be given for granted.”
ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (RACE1: 12th; RACE2: 15th)
“It is always exciting to be racing at home, see the grandstands full and feel the embrace of the fans. We made a step forward in race one and had a decent race. In race two I didn’t manage to match the same pace and struggled. I’m sorry I couldn’t finish the championship on a high note but this is a season that helped me grow a lot and gave me plenty of experience. I’d like to thank the team and sponsors for this journeys together.”
