NINTH PLACE FOR ARENAS AS GONZALEZ CRASHES OUT OF THE RACE

Yesterday’s qualifying result carried plenty of expectations into the final day of the French GP: Arenas had secured the fourth place on the grid while Gonzalez, with a fast and consistent pace, had also earned a spot on row two in sixth. Both rider got off to a good start in the race, with the number #18 Gonzalez immediately moving up to third place and then staying in the battle for the podium until 16 laps to go, when he crashed out of the encounter and therefore lost the opportunity to score what would have been the third podium of the season.

Arenas had a competitive early part of the race as he did everything he could to defend fourth place. He had a bit more of a challenging time in the second half of the encounter, as he found himself ninth at the finish line. The next round of the calendar will be his home event: the number #75 cannot wait to return to action and bounce back in front of his home crow.

9th – ALBERT ARENAS #75

“Today we did everything we could: we managed to improve throughout the weekend, make some steps forward and bring home seven points, but there’s nothing more we could have done today. We will analyse the data gathered to improve some more at Barcelona: this will be my home round and I cannot wait. Now a few days of rest, but we stay focused and ready to try again in Barcelona. We can surely aim higher as we lacked some speed today: we’ll keep working in order to find it and make another step in the next race.”

24th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18

“It was an unexpected crash in the race. I started really well and went from sixth to second at the first chicane, but the front closed, and Roberts overtook me. I then tried to stay with the front group and overtake, but I was losing a lot on corner exit and it was hard to arrive close to the next corner. We also strong in the pace but we need to improve some things in order to battle for the win in the next rounds, which is our goal.”
