NINTH PLACE FOR GONZALEZ AT THE END OF DUTCH GP

Manuel Gonzalez had quite a challenging race today at the TT Circuit Assen as he struggled to match the speed he had in qualifying the day before – which appeared to be a podium worthy one – as he went this time for the hard front tyre option. From fourth place on the grid, he crossed the finish line in ninth position as he bagged seven points for the championship title race, which currently sees him sixth and 65 points in arrears of the leader.

A Sunday to quickly leave behind for Albert Arenas: the rider #75 started from sixth position and after the following lap, he was closing the group of riders battling for the lead, ready to score some important points. On lap six, however, he tucked the front and crashed out. In less than five full days from now, the on-track action will resume at the Sachsenring and both Gresini Moto2 riders are ready to make amends on German turf.

9th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18

“It was not a good race for me. I struggled a lot to get up to speed as the feeling with the bike was not as good as it was yesterday. At the start I tried to stay close to the leaders but we battled a lot and the tyres went high in pressure. In the end I couldn’t overtake and we finished with a poor final position. We have to work and learn from what happened today in order to not make the same mistakes anymore in the next races.”

DNF – ALBERT ARENAS #75

“We need to learn from this crash. It’s a shame because we were in the leading group: I was struggling, though, the front was tucking all the time and the feeling at the rear-end wasn’t ideal, either. Now we need to understand how we can improve ahead of the next race: we’ll be back in action in four days, ready to put together a good weekend.”
