2021 FEDERAL OIL TEAM COMPLETE OPENING DAY OF RED BULL RING ‘DEBUT’
The first of six days of racing at Spielberg for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 has drawn to a close with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Nicolò Bulega far from the top of the timesheets in 18th and 23rd position, respectively. Both riders are therefore currently out of the group eligible for a Q2 direct seed, but tomorrow’s FP3 (at 10:55 GMT +2) can be the perfect opportunity to improve.
Only few tenths of a second are needed for both riders – at the moment – to enter the top 14. The #21, who set a personal quickest lap-time of 1’29.801secs in FP1, needs to improve by 0.179secs (if we exclude the possible improvements by other riders) in order to avoid Q1, while Bulega is in a bit more of a challenging situation as he is three tenths away from his teammate.
18th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 (1’29.801)
“We started off really well this morning and the gap to the top was little. If we take into account the fact that this is a track where I’ve never scored any important result so far, that was definitely a good sign. In the afternoon, between yellow flags, traffic and deleted lap-times, we were unable to keep doing well. We tried a setup change which I didn’t like, so we’ll work to improve tomorrow.”
23rd – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’30.117)
“I’m only partially happy with today’s performance. I liked the bike in some parts of the track and less in others, but I must say we’re all very close. Making small improvements can turn into a big jump in the timesheets, so we’ll keep working in order to achieve that.”
