SECOND ROW FOR ARENAS AT MISANO

Albert Arenas has achieved his qualifying goal in this Italian Saturday at Misano: the Spanish rider was aiming at a spot on the front two rows of the grid for the Misano Grand Prix, which is a key result for a possible podium battle tomorrow. After a solid Practice 2, he did seal his direct seed to Q2 and then set a streak of quick laps to clinch sixth place.

Manuel Gonzalez also made it into Q2 form the main door as he was charged up following a fourth place in the combined Practice classification. However, the Spaniard crashed on the opening qualifying lap. It was a work against the clock for the team, who managed to fix his bike, allowing the #18 to get back on track for the time attack. He managed to save the day with a 1’35.805secs lap-time, which gave him the ninth spot on the grid for the thirteenth Moto2 race of the season.

6th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’35.538)

“We kept pushing on this second day at Misano. We confirmed our pace and speed. The conditions were a little different in qualifying with stronger wind and higher temperatures, so we needed to figure out how to adapt. We did a good lap even though we have to fine tune a little more at some corners. To be on the first two rows was our goal, so tomorrow we’ll try to have a good rhythm for the whole race and capitalise on our potential.”

9th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’35.805)

“After a good Practice2, in which we had a good pace and a good quick lap, unfortunately I ended up crashing on the opening qualifying lap, so my time attack consisted of only two laps. The conditions were quite different and it was hard to figure out the best riding style – that’s why we’re a little behind on the grid. I’m very confident about my pace, though, so we’ll try to bounce back and finish as high as possible.”
