TOP-TEN RESULT FOR QJMOTOR GRESINI MOTO2 ON DAY ONE AT ASSEN

After a three-week break, the on-track action resumes for the eighth round of the season. Manuel Gonzalez made the most of the opening day trying to understand the tyre behaviour ahead of the race. He finished Friday’s action in eighth place: he will need to put in some more work ahead of qualifying in order to secure a good spot on the starting grid.

A few tweaks to the set-up gave a boost to Albert Arenas, who is back in the top ten following a difficult weekend at Mugello. He had two small crashes, fortunately without consequences, as the #75 pushed his performance to the limit: he will need to repeat a similar result tomorrow in order to earn the direct seed to Q2, before aiming at a spot on the first two rows.

8th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’36.547s)

“Result-wise, it hasn’t been a very good day: we worked a lot with the hard and used tyre in order to understand its behaviour ahead of the race but the feeling wasn’t ideal, neither in free practice nor in the afternoon’s practice one session. We need to work to improve the bike because we’re a bit further away than expected, but I’m confident we’ll find a solution tomorrow as we always did in every round this year. We were always ready on Sunday. It’ll be the same tomorrow, so we’ll stay focused for a good qualifying and especially for a good Sunday race.”

10th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’36.605s)

“First day at Assen: we did some set-up modifications which allowed us to recover a good feeling despite the two crashes, when I was trying to find the limit. We still need some work to do, so we’ll continue to do our best for a good qualifying.”
